Palais des Dunes is a family-run business. The grand-father of the Bouchedor brothers, the current owners, used to go to the market with a very long turban with a very long trail, long enough to trail on the ground. The name for such pieces of fabric is Achedor in the Berber language, and became Bouchedor, the man with the long fabric. Ahmed Bouchedor, that was his full name, lived between Algeria and Morocco. When the borders became a hard reality, he decided to settle in Tanemoust, one of the lsars of Merzouga (a ksar is a fortified small village). His son Mohamed married a girl of the area. He was a camel herder, and started to rent his animals, then organized himself camel tours. Finally, a very small inn, with six rooms only was built.

Palais des Dunes is this small inn, somehow larger. Mohamed's four sons, Lahcen, Mohamed, Brahim and Ahmed take care of everything, bookings, campsites, cookings, growing the garden, maintaining the swimming pool... and making your stay the most enjoyable.
